Edu Barbero, Cuca Canals, Àlex Monfort and Amador Esteban make up the Poemx 2026 jury. They will choose the ten works that will go out onto the streets of Córdoba and up to thirty more for the «Jury’s Selection».
Their careers span visual poetry, photography, film, literature and spatial design. Four perspectives that meet in the power of images, words and objects to question the everyday and open up new meanings.

Edu Barbero
A visual artist and photographer, he works across photography, illustration and experimental poetry. His books include Tiempo Visible, Tiempo (in)Visible and, with Eva Iglesias, Figúrate, un imaginario retórico para mirar. His work has been shown in exhibitions such as Constelaciones: poesía visual y experimental en España at MUSAC. He is the editor of Boek Visual and curates the visual poetry segments of La Aventura del Saber on RTVE. He returns to the jury after the 2025 edition.

Cuca Canals
A writer, screenwriter and visual artist, her career connects advertising, film, literature and the visual arts. Her work with Bigas Luna earned her an Osella for Best Screenplay at the Venice Film Festival for La teta y la luna and a Goya for Best Adapted Screenplay for La camarera del Titanic. In 1993 she met Joan Brossa, who encouraged her to show her work. She has published books of visual poetry and exhibited in Spain and elsewhere in Europe. Her work turns language and images inside out with humour and a surrealist streak.

Àlex Monfort
A visual poet, he finds new expressive possibilities in everyday objects, which take on other meanings when moved into a new context. His work combines play, irony and reflection, and is collected in publications such as reVISIONS, Inventari natural and Apunts de vista. He won the 1st Paqui Jiménez Yepes Visual Poetry Prize and the 4th Experimental Poetry Prize of the Centro de Poesía Visual in Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, in the visual poem category. He was selected for both previous editions of Poemx, in 2024 and 2025, taking part in the latter with Pre-oKupa. In 2026 he joins the festival jury.

Amador Esteban
Trained at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), he runs a studio in Córdoba working on museology, exhibition design, heritage interpretation and the design of spaces, events and stage sets. He received the 2021 Hispania Nostra Award for the Andando Córdoba project and a Bronze Laus in 2013 for his work at the Palacio de Viana with Estudio é. During the pandemic he returned to his calling for visual poetry. He is co-founder of the publication Preferiría no hacerlo, where his experience in design and heritage meets poetic experimentation.
The «En red» open call is open until 22 October 2026 at 23:59 (Spanish time).
