Revolutionary Book Worms

Peter DuffinValencia

In their words

Books carry the scars of the lives they have lived. In Revolutionary Book Worms, an ageing 1765 volume on the French monarchy becomes the site of a literary assassination. The titular worms eat through its history, erasing parts of the original narrative while creating a new network of interconnected tunnels. The lives of lowly bookworms and mighty royalty become intertwined, producing a third reality. Their paths become a new form of writing, raising questions about whose history survives, and where meaning resides: in the original text or in its transformation?
